Add comprehensive Email Filters and Domain Filters to Eenos so users and hosting administrators can automatically manage incoming email based on configurable rules.
The filtering system should allow individual email accounts, domains, and administrators to create rules that process messages according to sender, recipient, subject, headers, message content, size, spam score, and other common email attributes.
Eenos should provide two levels of filtering:
-
Email Account Filters – Rules that apply to a specific mailbox.
-
Domain Filters – Rules that apply to all incoming mail for a domain.
Users should be able to build filter rules using conditions such as:
-
From address
-
To address
-
CC address
-
Subject
-
Message headers
-
Message body
-
Message size
-
Spam score
-
Sender domain
-
Recipient address
-
Custom header values
The filter builder should support common comparison operators such as:
-
Contains
-
Does not contain
-
Equals
-
Does not equal
-
Begins with
-
Ends with
-
Matches regular expression
-
Is greater than
-
Is less than
Users should be able to combine multiple conditions using AND and OR logic.
Available filter actions should include:
-
Deliver to a folder
-
Redirect or forward the message
-
Discard the message
-
Reject the message with an error
-
Deliver to another mailbox
-
Add or modify a message header
-
Mark or categorize messages where supported
-
Stop processing additional rules
Users should be able to:
-
Create filters
-
Edit existing filters
-
Enable or disable filters
-
Reorder filter priority
-
Delete filters
-
Duplicate existing filters
-
Test filter rules before saving where possible
Domain-level filters should allow domain owners or administrators to apply policies across all mailboxes under a domain, while individual mailbox users should only be able to manage filters for their own email accounts.
The interface should clearly display the order in which rules are processed, as rule priority can affect final message delivery.
Where possible, Eenos should integrate these filters directly with the existing mail stack and generate the required Exim filtering configuration automatically.
Benefits
Email Filters and Domain Filters would give Eenos users better control over incoming mail and reduce the need for manual mail server configuration.
The feature would help users automatically organize email, block unwanted messages, redirect important mail, apply domain-wide mail policies, and create more flexible email handling rules directly from the control panel.
