Feature Request: CloudLinux Inode Limits, MySQL Governor and CageFS Integration in Eenos Package Manager

I would like to request additional CloudLinux integration in the Eenos Package Manager, allowing server administrators to configure inode limits, MySQL Governor resource limits, and CageFS directly from hosting package settings.

Eenos already supports CloudLinux resource management. Extending the Package Manager with these additional options would help hosting providers manage shared hosting resources more efficiently without switching between different management interfaces.

Suggested Features

1. CloudLinux Inode Limits

Add inode limit configuration to hosting packages with the following options:

  • Soft Inode Limit: Define the maximum number of files and directories an account can normally use before entering the quota grace period.

  • Hard Inode Limit: Define the absolute maximum number of files and directories an account can create.

  • Default Limits: Allow packages to inherit the server's default CloudLinux inode settings.

  • Custom Limits: Allow administrators to configure different inode limits for each hosting package.

  • Automatically apply package inode limits when creating accounts or changing hosting packages.

  • Display current inode usage and configured limits in the user control panel.

For example, a Basic Hosting package could have a soft limit of 200,000 inodes and a hard limit of 250,000, while a Premium Hosting package could allow higher limits.

2. MySQL Governor Resource Limits

Add MySQL Governor configuration to hosting packages to control database resource consumption.

Suggested options include:

  • MySQL CPU Limit: Control the CPU resources consumed by database queries.

  • MySQL Read I/O Limit: Configure database read resource limits.

  • MySQL Write I/O Limit: Configure database write resource limits.

  • MySQL Governor Mode: Configure whether database usage is monitored or restricted, where supported.

  • Default or Custom Limits: Allow packages to inherit default values or use customized resource limits.

  • Apply configured limits automatically when creating accounts or modifying hosting packages.

It would also be helpful to support CloudLinux MySQL Governor's current, short, middle, and long resource limit intervals for advanced configurations.

This would allow hosting providers to offer different database resource allocations depending on the hosting package.

3. CageFS Control

Add a simple Enable CageFS switch to the Eenos Package Manager.

Suggested behavior:

  • CageFS enabled by default for new hosting packages.

  • Allow administrators to enable or disable CageFS for individual packages.

  • Automatically enable CageFS when creating accounts under an enabled package.

  • Apply CageFS settings when users are moved between hosting packages.

  • Allow administrators to override CageFS settings for individual accounts.

  • Display CageFS status in account management.

For example, shared hosting packages could have CageFS enabled by default to provide filesystem isolation between hosting accounts.

4. Package Integration and Automation

All three features should integrate directly with the existing Eenos hosting package management system.

  • Configure CloudLinux settings while creating or editing hosting packages.

  • Automatically apply limits when new hosting accounts are created.

  • Update resource limits when an account's hosting package changes.

  • Support package defaults and account-level overrides.

  • Show CloudLinux options only when running on a compatible CloudLinux server.

  • Clearly indicate when a required CloudLinux component is unavailable.

  • Display current limits and resource usage in the appropriate administrator and user interfaces.

Why Is This Feature Important?

CloudLinux is widely used by shared hosting providers to improve resource isolation, stability, and server security.

Integrating inode limits, MySQL Governor, and CageFS directly into the Eenos Package Manager would simplify hosting account provisioning and reduce manual server administration.

It would also allow hosting providers to create more flexible hosting packages with clearly defined filesystem, database, and security restrictions.

I hope the Eenos development team will consider extending its existing CloudLinux integration with these package-level management features in an upcoming release.
